Box State Footy is a media project, publication, and content collective celebrating and highlighting soccer in Colorado.

Beholden to only our supporters, we’re completely independent meaning there’s no sponsored influence in how we run our brand.

The goal is to shine a light on anything and everything footy in the Box State.

We are a small and growing team of passionate, loud, and hard working creators.

There’s a vibrant community of soccer lovers and stories in the area and we only wish to tap in to that in many different ways.

What We Cover:

Colorado Rapids

  • As Colorado’s top professional side, our Rapids coverage leads much of the discussions, content, and articles on the site. We hope to bring the most honest and critical assessment of the team, their larger role in the Colorado scene, and lament the pitfalls and shortcomings of an absentee owner.

Local Clubs

  • Outside of the immediate sphere of the Rapids and MLS is a local soccer scene that is in need of some more attention. We have highlighted semi-pro teams like Harpos FC and Azteca FC 5280 who have represented the Box State well in the US Open Cup; the most prestigious domestic cup in United States. While we haven’t taken much time to truly dig into the Colorado Premier League, we want to be a platform that helps the smaller teams be seen outside of a single entity league that can be off-putting for many.

Community and Supporters Culture

  • The Beautiful Game is meant to be enjoyed and celebrated with others. For that reason, getting involved with the community and with various supporters helps foster a connection outside of just match reports and gameday analysis. We’ve been intimately involved with Centennial 38, the Rapids Supporters Group, but beyond the space created for the Rapids, there’s an iceberg of stories waiting to be unearthed.
  • From people within jersey spaces, the rec soccer scene, high school standouts, the thriving women’s soccer scene, indoor facilities, footy bars, and pickup leagues, various communities are out that are niche and particular but they make up the larger image of Colorado Soccer.

Weekly Colorado Soccer Newsletter

  • Our newsletter drops every Tuesday morning. It is a quick recap on Colorado Soccer happenings. Whether it’s a quick recap of a Rapids game, highlighting youth pipelines, or developments within the scene, the newsletter is the perfect medium for getting a little slice of the footy picture in Colorado.

Podcasts

  • The Box State Footy Podcast is a weekly recap show jamming all your Colorado teams into one big recap and review pod.
  • Outside the Box is an MLS podcast covering the entire league featuring some voices from around the United States. Both podcasts offer deep insight, funny moments, and plenty of hot takes to get you through the days between matchdays.
